The most memorable scene to me was when Lizzie's father in rage after she steals some jewelry & money was to kill her pet pigeons then we see what looks like small birds being served at the family meal. Lizzie comes across as a bit paranoid, perhaps epileptic and definitely a woman not fitting in w/the subdued obedient female image of the time. It should be noted that this docudrama is an interpretation of what happened in that house; nevertheless interesting. Wasn't clear, so would have liked a bit more background, on why the family was not well regarded in the community. Well acted.

A psychological thriller based on the infamous 1892 murders of the Borden family. Lizzie benefits from a very good perfomance by Kristen Stewart but everyone else felt a little bit on and off to me especially Sevigny was terrible. The movie also had some pacing issues here and there and the editing was seriously pretty bad too. On the other note however i did liked some of the creepy and disturbing moments here and there that the movie tried to built but the damage had already been done especially the murder sequences were so dumb. (4.5/10)
I loved the take on this story with Elizabeth Montgomery many years ago. I also enjoyed the recent version with Christina Ricci. If you enjoyed either of those, I would recommend skipping this version. The idea of taking these grisly murders and adding a Lesbian Feminist twist might have seemed like a good idea, but in the end they somehow managed to make it bland and a bore. The performances are very good from all the major actors except by Kirsten Stewart, who spends the entire movie looking like she's going to vomit, she really is a one-note actress. Even with the good performances, there just isn't much to the script. Nothing stands out here, the cinematography, the direction, the dialogue, it's all washed out and dull. For long stretches I was struggling to stay awake. The movie seems much more concerned with turning this into some type of "impossible for the times" love affair and the story of Lizzie Borden is already fascinating. A lifeless, dead on arrival production.
